Never have seen such a high quality handle, grain was dead straight, vibration is non-existent even without thinning. Pattern and shape are perfected, got it as a model for any future handles I will make. The "hook" and palm swell at the knob belie the kind of craftsman ship and ergonomics that only come from years of experience. It is perfect.
The 28" hickory straight handle is well-suited for this splitting axe with a vintage 3 1/2 lb. S. A. Wetterlings head and easily accommodated the axe head's 13/16 in. max width eye. The walnut wedge looked great. The Grade 2 handle looks nice and did not disappoint when splitting 1/2 cord of hard, freshly cut Bradford pear wood.
Best 32" handle on the market and I've tried as many as I can get. They come 34" so you can achieve a 32" hang, my preference. Hoffman handles are superior in both design and finish to every other handle I've put them up against, and all of my American eye axes (and my axe eye mauls) wear one. Grain orientation is always flawless, the wood is beautiful and the size is perfect.
For #3 grade practice handle very nice in my opinion awaiting the right Broad Axe Head to be hung ..?

The craftsmanship of the handle is very nice.
I ordered this handle as I wanted a shorter handle for my single bit felling axe. When it arrived I realized I miss measured the eye of my axe. I said not biggie as I have others that it may work on. Nope I didn't. This gives me the excuse (not that I need one) to go find another axe with a smaller eye that I WILL use this handle with. The hunt is on and I am excited to find one that fits.
I put a vintage 4# Jersey on this handle. The curve is just enough to keep the bit from diving, and the balance point is just under the head. This axe feels lighter now, and has given my swing a lot of confidence.
I ended up ebonizing the finish, sanding that down and adding oil. This is the most beautiful I own now.
I chose this handle for an old drift pick that is a family heirloom. Really pleased with the octagonal profile to complete a showcase look - turned out beautifully!
Great so far, hanging on a Vintage Black Raven, passed down from my Grandpa, then Dad, have not finished yet but close, handle looks great, thanks, Richard.

Great quality handle. I worked the head down to fit into a hammer head and it’s amazing. Wish you guys would offer hammer specific handles but carving them down doesn’t take much time to do.

I just received the Walnut wedges yesterday and I have not had time to remove the previous wedge to re-install the new one at a greater depth in the handle.
