The handle is exactly as described. I have not mounted the bit yet. I have done a little mock up. There will need to be some removal of material to fit the head. Wood grain is nice and I think it will look really good when finished. Most of all the girth is appropriate for my hand. I will be purchasing more handles soon
My kerf cut was dead on, straight and true. My antique broadaxe took more cut, I was able to extend the kerf cut perfectly with my Japanese pull saw using Hoffman's cut as a guide. Thanks!!!
Love it. It feels right when you swing it with a heavy head on it. My hands aren't as strong as they used to be, but the handle did most of the work.
I bought this hewing head from a very old man in 1988. Hammer welded 6 pieces of metal with a cast steel edge. It hung on my shop wall for 37 YEARS. I ran across Hoffman handles about a month ago, they looked so good I had to have a handle. 3rd grade turned out great for me. A little carving on the end made it mine. I will display it on a board above my workbench. Hoffman handles are absolutely top quality. You will not go wrong. Thanks!
Liked the oiling was thinking it would darken the wood a little but not necissary
I got this handle for a classic Sager Axe made by the Warren Axe and Tool Co of Warren, PA. I am so glad that I got the handle oiling. Just saved me so much work and it really brought out the color in the wood. For the price, it is a no brainer. You will never regret doing it to your handle.
Amazing quality I bought the grade 3 because I’m fresh to hanging but these are beautiful handles. Happy to see and purchase from such a talented local business!
Still working on it but it's going to look great, when I get the oil on it
Bought this shortie for an old bit rescued by an Ontario metal detectorist at the site of a bygone logging camp. Lot of grinding and polishing but soon we’ll see.
