Choosing your handle

Will a replacement handle fit my axe head?

Compare your axe head’s eye measurements with the selected product’s dimensions on the product page. The handle usually needs shaping to fit that head perfectly.

How are axe-handle lengths measured?

Our handles are longer than their named length in order to account for length lost during fitting and trimming the eye and end of handle. Extra wood beneath the swell helps during fitting and can be trimmed afterward. After fitting, you should be left with a length close to the handle's named length.

Where can I learn to fit the handle?

Our How To Hang An Axe guide includes written instructions and a video covering fitting and hanging.
